OWEN-PUTNAM 50/50 TRAIL RUN

Course: Several times around a rolling to hilly loop on rugged trails, fireroads, and county roads in and around the Owen-Putnam State Forest 10 miles west of Spencer. Once around for the 13.2 mile fun run.

Weather: Temps on this date can be mid 20s to 70s, so be prepared for anything! Due to our being on daylight time the start will be in the dark and a light is mandatory for the first 5 mile loop.

Time limit: Runners must begin the last 13.2 mile loop within 8:15 hours of the start.

Aid: Aid at the start/finish area, and at two other points on the loop.

Entry fee: Race limited to the first 100 entries. $40/50 postmarked thru 10/14/06, $50/60 thereafter for 50k/50m; $20 for 13.2 thru 10/14/06,$25 thereafter. Make checks payable to Owen-Putnam 50 Miler. Tee shirts guaranteed to entrants pre-registered by Oct. 14th. Mail entries to David Glass 1080 Hancock School Rd., Spencer, IN 47460.

Registration: If you plan to enter Friday night, call first to confirm there are still openings in the race. There will be no race day entries. Packet pick up will be in Spencer on Friday night from 6 to 9 PM, and at the starting line from 6 to 6:45 AM.

Awards: Handed out at the finish line. Awards in each age group for 50/50, and the overall male and female winners in all 3 distances. Age groups: 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ All finishers in all distances will receive finisher medals.

Verification: All pre-registered entrants will receive information (maps) in the mail.

WAIVER

I know that running the Owen-Putnam 50/50 is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run. I assume all risks associated with running in this event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity or extreme cold and rain/sleet/snow, lightning, traffic and the conditions of the trail and road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waiver and release the Department of Natural Resources and any race official or volunteer of this race from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I hereby grant permission for the free use of any photos or film of me. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to study and learn the trail in advance and to run 50 miles/50 km on the official course to get an official time. Any distance less than 50 miles/50 km will be disqualified.
