Allen County Special Olympics
The Allen County Special Olympics is about to embark on a Track and Field program.
They are in dire need of coaches/directors (no coaching experience necessary, but helpful).
Here are some details:
Practices to be held at the Ash Center (indoors) on
March 19, 26 and April 2 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Practices to be held at Homestead Track on
April 7, 16, 21, 30 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
****Athletes will be eligible to participate in the State Games in Indy this summer
TBA Events:
- 50, 100 yd dash
- 400 yd walk
- Wheelchair Standing
- Long jump
- Softball throw
(So far our athletes have been only intellectually disabled, but we are to offer a wheelchair division)
I know there are some really neat people in our running community, and I am hoping this is something that will appeal to some of them who want to share their great abilities and at the same time give back to our community!
